Decorating your kitchen for the fall is exciting as you can unleash your creativity. Hanging wreaths all around the kitchen makes it look more appealing.
However, when hanging a wreath on your range hood, many seem confused. You don’t want to stick a nail on your range hood, fearing the damage it could do.
So, how to hang wreath on range hood without using nails?
Well, there are plenty of ways to hang a wreath on your range hood, but you can’t use nails when it comes to your range hood. Instead, use adhesive hooks, ribbons, or velcro to hang it.
Let’s discuss how you can use these methods to hang a wreath on your range hood. I’ll also share some tips I learned after placing a wreath on the range hood for the first time.
Ways to Hang a Wreath on Your Range Hood
There can be several variations of the ideas that I present below. You can use the methods directly or add your own twist & touch.

Using Adhesive Hooks
Adhesive hooks are an excellent choice for hanging wreaths on your range hood. They won’t damage your range hood, specifically the outer case. Plus, they also come cheap. You can get a set of 5 or 10 for $10-$20.
Another advantage is that they are easily removable without leaving any marks or traces.
3M Command is the most popular adhesive hook on the market. They stick with ease, can hold substantial weight, and don’t leave any marks after removal.
These can be stuck on painted walls, wood, tiles, concrete, metal, glass, or any smooth solid surface. So, these hooks work even if your range hood is enclosed within a framework of wood, tiles, or concrete blocks.
Here’s how you can use Command adhesive hooks:
- Select the area of the range hood where you want to place the hook.
- Spray rubbing alcohol on the range hood area and wipe it with a clean cloth. Refrain from using water or other cleaning liquids. They can make the surface slippery.
- Take out one strip and one hook from the packet.
- Peel the side with the red liner and stick it behind the hook on the elevated part.
- Now remove the black liner that’s on the opposite side. Press the hook onto your range hood. Apply firm pressure with your thumb for 30 seconds.
- Leave for an hour.
The hook is ready for use, and you can now hang your wreath on it. If you feel that the hook is still not placed tightly, do this:
- After leaving for an hour, push the hook from below to detach it without removing the adhesive strip.
- Press firmly on the strip again for 30-40 seconds.
- Slide the hook from bottom to top to stick it again. Leave for an hour before using.

The Command hooks are available in different shapes, sizes, and weight limits. Before buying the adhesive hook, check how much your wrath weighs.
What I do is place two hooks, one at the top and the other at the bottom, to support the wreath. This may be my paranoia, but I can’t risk a falling wreath while cooking.
To remove them after use, remove the hooks as mentioned above. After that, you’ll see a strip at the bottom. Pull it towards the ground with force, and it’ll come off without leaving a mark.
Using Magnetic Hooks
An alternative to using adhesive hooks is to use a magnetic hook. However, this won’t work if your range hood is custom-built inside a wooden or concrete block.
If you have an exposed range hood, you can consider this option. Magnetic hooks stick to any metal base and are powerful enough to hold substantial weight.
Magnetic hooks won’t burn your pockets too. You can buy them from Amazon or local stores for $7-$15. This price is not for a single hook but for a set of 10 or 20 pieces.

Using them is as simple as it gets. Just place these hooks on your range hood and hang your wreath on them. You can put more than one for extra safety and assurance.
Apart from using them on range hoods, you can place them anywhere with a metal surface. Use these hooks to decorate your house for the festive season.
Using Ribbons
The ways mentioned above to hang a wreath on your range hood work without any error.
However, if you want to add extra beauty to your range hood, you can use ribbons to decorate the wreath.
For this method, you must select a place above your range hood to place the hooks. You can also use a tac nail if you can stick one above the range hood location.
Here’s how to use a decorative ribbon to hang your wreath on the range hood:
- Take any decorative ribbon of your choice. You can also use transparent threads (think fishing line) to make an invisible hanger.
- Loop the ribbon around the top of the wreath and match both ends. Measure the ribbon length.
- Measure the same length from your range hood to the top.
- If you can, hammer a tac nail at the measured point above your range hood.
- If nails are not an option, you can again use the Commando adhesive hook or the magnetic hook (if the surface is metallic).
- Tie the ribbon ends to the nail or the adhesive hook. Your wreath is ready for the show now.
- Use 2-3 nails or hooks to secure the ribbon for extra safety.
Things to Remember While Hanging a Wreath on Your Range Hood
While hanging wreaths above your range hood makes the kitchen look more beautiful, it may sometimes cause problems. Remember that your range hood lies above your stove.
Any small neglect can lead to a fire, which would destroy your festive & joyful mood.
But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to hang a wreath on the range hood. I’ve been doing it for years without any problem.
Follow these simple tips, and you’ll be good to go:
- Maintain a safe distance between your stove range and the wreath on the range hood. Put your wreath at least 28” above your stove range to avoid it from catching fire. High heat can also cause an adhesive hook to lose its power.
- Always put a vessel on your stove before lighting it. Bare fire can reach the wreath easily and burn it.
- You can hang either a natural or an artificial wreath on your range hood. However, artificial wreaths are more likely to catch fire from the stove heat. They’re made of combustible materials like plastic, silk, or polyester.
- Hang your wreath on the range hood for 4-5 days. With time, the wreaths become greasy and lose their color. This is due to the food you cook on the stove. You can replace the old wreath with a new one if you want to hang it longer.
- Always use superior-quality adhesive or magnetic hooks. Low-quality hooks can come off quickly and fall on your stove while cooking.
- Use two hooks, one at the top and one at the bottom, to safely secure the wreath on the range hood.
- Before using any adhesive or magnetic hook, check their weight limit. Ensure that it can hold the weight of our wreath. If not, then get a more powerful one.
